The "Cash for Clunkers" boondoggle, $1B from Congress to individual drivers, was so successful that the house 2 billion MORE for this boondoggle.
Don't give me any guff about transit and cyclists not paying their fair share, when the government is subsidizing private car ownership.

Not only subsidizing car ownership - subsidizing ownership of big gas-guzzling cars. The irony of the program is that people who bought mileage-sensible vehicles miss out on this free $4500 handout by Uncle Sam. I guess this was Obama's idea of consoling Michigan with some bacon.
